Davos, Switzerland

Dear friends of martial arts,

TAEKWON-DO INTERNATIONAL SWITZERLAND is organizing the 7th Taekwon-Do Continental
Championships in Davos

For these championships martial arts clubs as Taekwon-Do, Karate and Kick boxing are allowed to compete.

The event takes place as follows:
Friday 3rd to the 5th of April 2009,
starting at 08.00 a.m. (on the 4th of April 2009)
at the Arkaden-Sports-Hall
of Davos-Platz, Switzerland

Besides sparring “runningtime & point stop, “Kata / Patterns” the discipline “Breaking” will also be performed.

In the discipline sparring of the “Grand Champion” (away from 17 years old) will be distinguished from the first
three black belts of each Men’s and Women’s division. All winners of the different divisions get nice awards.

The prize for the Grand Champion (Men)

As well we are organizing a discipline “Score Team 20” (the best tree teams; without Grand Champion) as
awards are:

1. Place 2’000.- US$
2. Place 1’000.- US$
3. Place 500.- US$

A team of qualified referees will ensure fair judgements for the fights.

The organizing committee invites highly experienced fighters from Switzerland, Europe, Canada, South Africa,
Russia, South America and so on for this big event. We expect about 1’500 starter from approx. 20 countries.

Location: Arkaden Sports Arena, Promenade 56, CH- Davos-Platz
(see description of the route in the accommodation leaflet or
www.taekwon-do.ch). Signs will be placed throughout Davos.
Travelling by train look: www.sbb.ch. Destination: “DAVOS PLATZ”!
Please note: wear only trainers with white soles in the
competition room (referees and coaches included)!!
If you travel by car, please check the weather forecast and
have your car ready for possible bad road conditions
(be sure to use a 4WD or to take chains along!)

Authorization: All competitors from 8th Kup/Kyu or equal grades of all systems and federations.
!!! The tournament take part executively in Light- and Semi contact !!!

Categories: - Tul / Kata: according to the attached application form. We need at least 5
competitors per category.
- Attention: please note semi contact (Point Stop) and light contact (Running
Time) sparring
We need at least 5 competitors per category. If there are not enough competitors in
one category they will be assigned to the next higher category, from the highest class
they will be assigned to the next lower category.
double starts in the next higher category are NOT allowed.

Tournament rules: According to the Taekwon-Do International Rules (see attached rules)

Awards: cups for places 1st to 3rd for adults and cups for places 1st to 4th for children. The
competitors get the cups directly after their division has closed by the podium.

Accommodation: See attached list of hotels and accommodations (please book early, at the latest in February 2009).
Please note that accommodation is booked out quickly, so please book as soon as possible!!

Referees: With every inscription of the clubs there must also enroll an experienced referee. If
there are more than 10 competitors per club we expect more than one referee.
Please name the referees on the 2nd inscription form. The referees get 1 Lunch for
each day (Saturday and Sunday) free and beverage (Minerals water for free). If a
club isn’t able to enrol a referee the club has to pay an absence fee of CHF 60.- /
Euro 40.-.
