Kids Martial Arts

Kids classes are the largest segment of tae kwon do instruction.

All classes, but especially kids martial arts classes, stress what are called the Tenets of Tae kwon do.

  • Courtesy
  • Integrity
  • Perseverance
  • Self-Control
  • Indomitable Spirit

These behavioral goals aid tae kwon do instructors and parents in solidifying core values that help young people be and do their best. There is a great emphasis on politeness and respect for elders which is often lost in society today.

The world can be a big scary place for children. The internet and television expose our young people to concepts and situations, that adults most likely never knew until we were mature enough to handle them. Kids tae kwon do training can give children the confidence to deal with the world.

Whenever your child advances and gets a new belt color, they learn a new poomse (form) to practice.

A typical class will include a warm-up. Although children are naturally limber, it is important they learn to warm up before physical exercise.

This is usually followed by kicking drills, forms practice, sparring and/or self-defense. The instructor decides the curriculum and it changes for every class.

The best instructors will add some aspect of kids nutrition education to their curriculum. This mindset along with the exercise children get in a martial arts class can negate the need of diets for children, which is very difficult on them.
