THE HAUNTING – the 2010 ICTF Alberta Provincial Invitational Taekwon-Do Tournament to be held in Edmonton, Alberta on October 30, 2010.

Dear Masters, Instructors and Guests,

The Shin Ji Taekwon-Do Club would like to take this opportunity to invite you and your students to attend the “ THE HAUNTING” – the 2010 ICTF Alberta Provincial Invitational Taekwon-Do Tournament to be held in Edmonton, Alberta on October 30, 2010.
This tournament is the first to be hosted by our school and we would be honoured to have you, and your students come and join us. The tournament is to be held at the Archbishop O’Leary Catholic High School, located at 8760 – 132 Ave. in Edmonton, Alberta. The doors will open at 8:00 a.m. for students and spectators alike with the opening ceremonies taking place at 9:30 a.m. The competition will be open to all ICTF members, all practitioners of ITF or Chang- Hon styles of Taekwon-Do, as well as any Karate and WTF stylists who wish to compete. Non-ICTF clubs are more than welcome to participate in this tournament. Any ICTF member may invite a non-ICTF member to compete in this event. ICTF members should explain ICTF rules for competition to the people they invite, as well as the responsibilities they may be required to perform as listed below. The ICTF member who invites the non-member will be responsible for their guest’s behavior and the behavior of the guest’s students

GENERAL INFORMATION:
The sparring and patterns competition judging will be in accordance to ICTF Tournament Rules and Regulations using only qualified ICTF judges and referees. As well, there will be Shadow Warrior Obstacle course for the little guys from 8 years of age and under to test their mettle against. Every competitor in this division will be rewarded with a goody bag after they are done running their event. It is our hope that we can provide a memorable experience for you and your students alike.
The entry fee for the competitors is $40.00 each and is either one or both events, patterns and sparring. The spectator door entry fee will be $5.00 per person and $10.00 per family for the day. The entry fee for each Shadow Warrior will be $10.00 per child and every child will have two runs on the course.
PATTERN AND SPARRING DIVISION BREAKDOWN:

All sparring and pattern divisions are divided by competitor’s belt level (stripes will be included in the division of the full belt color) as well as by gender and age group. Sparring divisions may be split into the following weight categories; lightweight, middleweight and heavyweight (if required). The requirement to split the divisions by weight will be at the discretion of the Head referee and Tournament Director. All Black Belt pattern and sparring divisions will be divided by gender, Dan level and age group.

Ages 8 and under - white to blue belt (combined boys and girls)
Ages 9 & 10 - white to red belt
Ages 11 & 12- white to black belt – 1st dan
Ages 13 & 14 - white to black belt – 1st thru 3th dan
Ages 15 to 17 - white to black belt – 1st thru 3th dan
Ages 18 to 40 - white to black belt – 1st thru 6th dan
Ages 41 and above - white to black belt – 1st thru 6th dan
Divisions with less than 3 competitors will be folded into another category. Instructors are asked to have their students report in at the “competitors check-in area” at the start of the day, this is so the students can be assured that they have their names entered in the correct division prior to the start of the tournament.



PAYMENT OF ENTRY FEES:
Instructors, please have all of your students pay you individually. Then you, the instructor, will pay for your entire group with one payment. Payment for the tournament is requested prior to the event day. You may pay by cheque, made out to the Shin Ji Taekwon-Do Club or you can pay with your credit card. This form of payment will also earn you whichever special bonuses your credit card gives you like Airmiles or Aeromiles, etc. There will be an additional 2% surcharge on credit card payments.

HOTELS:

We have arranged hotel accommodations at The Holiday Inn Express & Suites, which is located at 11 Portage Lane, Sherwood Parký and the toll free telephone number is 1-877-417-3388. There are 35 rooms with 2 Queen beds each (per room) and 10 rooms with 1 King size bed (per room) currently reserved for this tournament and are available on a first come first served basis. By quoting the following contract number “14064” or by mentioning that you going to be attending the ICTF Taekwon-Do provincial tournament hosted by Shin Ji Taekwon-Do Club, the room rate will be $139.00 per night (tax and GST extra) which also includes a complimentary “hot continental breakfast” for the room guests. Please try to book your rooms as soon as possible because after Oct. 8 the room rates will return to the regular room price per night. Please see the attached information supplied by the Holiday Inn.

AFTER TOURNAMENT PARTY:
Since this tournament is scheduled so close to Halloween we are hoping that you come out and celebrate with us after the tournament is complete. We have made arrangements to have a post tournament costume party at the Average Joes All-Star Bar in Sherwood Park. The restaurant and pub is at 390 Baseline Road (which is located approx. 5 minutes drive from the hotel) and we have secured 100+ reserve spots to have some post tournament fun and relaxation. We encourage all those of age to dress in your favorite Halloween attire and join us for a night of good food, good conversations with good friends. If a costume is not your thing, come as you are but please come and be a part of the fun and festivities. There will be prizes for best costume, etc. Tickets for the party will be $10.00 each, which will cover the door entry fee, hot “hors d oeuvres”, etc.
The tickets for this party will be available on a “first come first served” basis. By ordering the tickets in advance, you will be assured that you will be able to join us for the fun after the tournament. There will be a limited number of tickets available for purchase at the tournament.
