This was an excellent tournament. Unfortunately the parents of one of the competitors put on a very sad performance.

Here is an open letter to the parents of Alexis Teran.

You list Courtesy on your website as one of the tenets of Taekwondo. Where was that display of courtesy at the conclusion of Alexis Teran’s match at the NSMA tournament in San Antonio?
My daughter is a member of a Corpus Christi Taekwondo school and for years we have watched and admired the skills and great attitude displayed by Alexis at tournaments around the country. She is a super young lady with tremendous talent. Unfortunately your display of respect and courtesy towards the young lady that beat Alexis was very sad to see.
Refusing to let Alexis line up in the ring and accept second place was a display of very poor sportsmanship. The saddest part is that everyone could see that Alexis was willing to take the second place award but unfortunately you would not let her. Alexis knows most of the girls she competed against and treats them with respect. You as parents could learn a lot from your daughter.
The young lady that beat Alexis truly deserves an apology. Not from Alexis but from you the parents.

This event is by far the best Texas tournament of the year... this years event was fun,exciting,fair,friendly and professional. If you love a well run tournament this is the one.
